WHY SERVITECH EXISTS

Built on the Importance of Doing the Job Safely.

Servitech Training began with a serious workplace experience.

The company’s original owner worked as a janitor alongside his brother. After his brother suffered significant lung damage following an incident involving improperly mixed cleaning chemicals, he recognized a critical gap in the industry: people were often expected to clean professionally without fully understanding the products, equipment and procedures they were using.

The goal was simple: help people understand not only what to do, but why.

In 2016, Wendy Hansen purchased Servitech when the original owner retired, carrying that philosophy forward with decades of hands-on experience.

MEET WENDY HANSEN

More Than 45 Years of Industry Experience.

Wendy Hansen has worked in the professional cleaning industry since she was 15 years old.

Her experience spans Building Service Worker training, commercial floor care, carpet cleaning, hospitality cleaning and broader custodial practices, along with education connected to ISSA-CMI and IICRC.

Her greatest strength is turning decades of practical knowledge into clear, useful instruction for the people doing the work.

Practical knowledge, explained so people can use it right away.

PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE. REAL UNDERSTANDING.

More Than Teaching a Procedure.

The goal is for participants to understand what happens when a chemical meets a surface, why one procedure works, why another fails, and how small changes in technique affect the result.

Participants are encouraged to ask questions, understand the reasoning behind each step, and leave with knowledge they can use right away.

KNOWLEDGE CHANGES RESULTS

Professional Cleaning Is More Technical Than Most People Realize.

Cleaning professionals make decisions involving chemistry, surfaces, equipment, dilution, procedures and workplace safety every day.

  • Using water at the wrong temperature
  • Choosing the wrong chemical for a surface
  • Using too much cleaning product
  • Combining incompatible products
  • Using equipment incorrectly
  • Applying the right product using the wrong procedure

Surface + Product + Equipment + Procedure = Professional Results

When people understand the why behind the process, they are better equipped to protect themselves, the facility, the equipment and the surfaces they maintain.

A Different Kind of Training Experience

Practical. Approachable. Memorable.

Servitech courses are designed around workplace realities. Participants learn through explanation, demonstration, discussion and hands-on experience with the products, equipment and procedures they may encounter on the job.

  1. Understand

Learn the reasoning, chemistry and safety principles behind each process.

  2. Practice

See techniques demonstrated and work with equipment in a practical setting.

  3. Apply

Leave with useful knowledge that transfers directly to the workplace.

When people understand why a process works, they are far more likely to remember how to do it properly.

RECOGNITION THAT MATTERS

Making an Impact Beyond the Classroom.

In 2022, Wendy was recognized by the Recreation Facilities Association of British Columbia (RFABC) for her contribution to the association and the recreation facilities industry.

But some of the recognition she values most comes directly from the people she trains. Participants tell her she made technical information easier to understand, answered the questions they were afraid to ask, or gave them knowledge they could put to work immediately.

For Wendy, good training isn't measured simply by completing a course. It's measured by what people understand when they leave, and by the confidence they have to do the job safely and well.
